About

tali-studioI work in both stoneware and porcelain, depending on the visual effect I want to create. Porcelain is an excellent medium for fine carving, stoneware for bold glaze contrasts. I find design inspiration from symmetrical patterns, Art Nouveau, and botanical drawings.

I like to create work that’s balanced, with flowing, soft transitions. My favorite pieces have sweeping, clean lines, while still being soundly functional. If someone intuitively likes my work, without having to think about it, then I’ve met my goal.

AboutI’ve been serious about working in clay since 1977. After college, I was fortunate to attend a Production Clay program in North Carolina, which prepared me to both teach and work as a studio potter.

Since 1981, I’ve been teaching classes and private lessons, working with kids and adults of all ages and skill levels. In addition to teaching, I continue to produce my own body of work, primarily through commissions.

Over the years, I’ve created a wide range of pottery. Some of my work is uniquely formal and decorative; other pots are purely functional, meant for daily use. Currently, I focus on practical pottery that’s made to meet high aesthetic standards.
