Adult Classes

Adult classes are offered quarterly, ten weeks per session. Each class meets weekly for three hours, with the option of additional open studio time. The classes are intentionally kept small, assuring that all students have adequate access to potter’s wheels and handbuilding equipment, as well as to the instructor.

Classes meet on Wednesday evenings from 6:00-9:00 PM, and there are two classes on Fridays.  The first meets from 9:00-12:00, and the second from 1:30-4:30 pm. Open studio time is offered for an additional 90 minutes on class days, and from noon to 5:00 PM on Sundays.

Cost

Fees are $355 per session, which covers instruction, use of studio equipment and glazes, and bisque firing. Multiple types of clay are available for purchase (about $14 per 25# bag). Students pay an additional gas-firing fee, based on the volume of pottery that’s fired in the propane kiln. The firing fee per session will vary, ranging from $5 to $50 per student.

Techniques

Instruction is offered in both wheel-throwing and hand-building techniques. Glazing, surface enhancement, decorative techniques, carving, cutwork, and wax resist techniques are covered.

Materials

If you have any tools, please bring them. If you’re new to pottery, you are welcome to use studio tools until you decide what you’d like to own. Clay is available to purchase in the studio.
